Here’s a brief overview:
Early Years (2002-2005) Promise Christian University was founded by Dr. Michael and Dr. Adelle McKinney as a Bible College to assist pastors and ministers of independent local churches achieve their degree in Theology for Ministry.
The university started in the fellowship hall of the Covina Nazarene Church and initially offered certificate and degree completion programs in Ministry,
Religious Studies, and Theology.
Growth and Expansion (2005-2010)
PCU began to expand its programs and courses, adding new majors and concentrations in areas such as counseling, leadership, and evangelism. The university also established partnerships with other institutions and organizations to provide students with opportunities for internships, mentorship, and hands-on training.
International Expansion:
(2015-Present) In recent years, PCU has expanded its reach globally, establishing partnerships with churches, ministries, and organizations in over 19 nations. The university has also launched online programs and courses, making it possible for students from around the world to access its academic programs and resources.

PROMISE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY CURRENT PROGRAM OVERVIEW.
The Chaplaincy Program at Promise Christian University is a comprehensive and well-structured program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual foundation necessary to serve as chaplains in various settings.
Program Overview
The Chaplaincy Program at Promise Christian University is a Christian Biblical Based course that provides a foundation for the work of a chaplain.
The program is designed to prepare traditional Christian men and women for the role of a chaplain, and it is initiated in response to the request of the United States Volunteers Joint Services Command to train their Christian Chaplain Volunteers. Course Structure
The program consists of three courses:
- Chaplains History:
This course covers the introduction and history of chaplaincy, as well as the role and responsibilities of a chaplain.
- Chaplains Training
Pastoral Care:
This course focuses on the ministry and caring side of chaplaincy, including pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual guidance.
- Chaplains Training
Hospital or Volunteer Military Service:
This course gives students the option to choose between hospital, caregiving, hospice, and rest home chaplaincy or leadership and volunteer services track.

THE HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY
Carries a history that spans several decades. Founded in 1991 by Pastor David Andrade, along with Pastors Steve Davis, Elmer Jackson, and Gary Phillips. The purpose is to provide a thriving institution that carries a strong reputation for academic excellence, spiritual growth, and global discipleship.
Early Years (1991-2001)
The school’s humble beginnings date back to 1991, when it was established as a small Bible study group at Calvary Assembly of God in El Monte, California. Initially, the school offered certificate programs in Ministry and Spiritual Growth, with a focus on equipping believers with the knowledge, skills, and character training necessary to minister, pray and preach the Gospel anywhere in the world in the power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit. The school’s early years were marked by a strong emphasis on equipping intercessors and the people of prayer, with the establishment of a School of Intercession in the library of the Launderette, Point Loma University basement.
Growth and Expansion (2010-2015)
In 2010, the school began to expand its programs and courses, adding new majors and concentrations in areas such as Supernatural Ministry, Healing, and Deliverance. The school began to establish partnerships with other ministries, organizations, and city pastor netwoks collaborations in the San Gabriel Valley area and Citywatch in Los Angeles. This period of growth and expansion was marked by organizing various intercessory conferences and Pastors and Intercessory prayer summits, including the California Prayer Initiative, the Ca. Listening Team and the 11.11.11, A Line In the Sand Encounter at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Partnership with Promise Christian University 2024
the Holy Spirit Supernatural School of Ministry entered into a partnership with Promise Christian University (PCU) to provide a comprehensive education in ministry and spiritual growth. This partnership allowed the school to offer a degree program in Ministry for its students, while also providing access to PCU’s resources and expertise.
Extended Campus in Decatur, Illinois (2024)
In 2025, the school launched its extended campus in Decatur, Illinois, by offering a range of programs and courses in Supernatural Ministry, and Spiritual Growth.
The extended campus is now located at 555 Imboden Dr, Decatur, IL 62526, and provides students with access to an experienced faculty, and a supportive community of believers.
