Transfer of Credit Policy for HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY
Introduction
HS-SSOM is committed to providing a high-quality education that is grounded in the Bible and relevant to the needs of our students. As part of this commitment, we recognize that many of our students have already completed coursework at other institutions, and we are happy to accept transfer credits from these institutions.
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to outline the procedures and guidelines for transferring
credits from other institutions IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY This policy is intended to ensure that our students receive fair and equitable treatment in the transfer of credits, and that they are able to complete their degree programs in a timely and efficient manner.
Scope
This policy applies to all students who are seeking to transfer credits from other institutions to HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY. This includes students who are transferring from other colleges or universities, as well as those who are seeking to transfer credits from other types of institutions, such as seminaries or Bible institutes.
Definitions –
Transfer Credit refers to credit that is awarded to a student for coursework that was completed at another institution.
Sending institution refers to the institution from which the student is transferring credits.
Receiving institution refers to HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY which is the institution to which the student is transferring credits.
Transfer Credit Policy
1. General Principles –
HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY will accept transfer credits from institutions that are accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. – Transfer credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis, and will be awarded based on the similarity of the coursework to the coursework offered at HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY.
2. Transfer Credits will be awarded only for coursework that is relevant to the student’s degree program at HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY.
3. Types of Transfer Credit –
HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY will accept the following
types of transfer credit: –
Credits from other colleges or universities –
Credits from seminaries or Bible institutes –
Credits from online or distance education programs –
HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY will not accept transfer
credits from institutions that are not accredited by a recognized accrediting agency.
4. Evaluation of Transfer Credit –
The Registrar’s office will evaluate all transfer credits to determine their applicability to
the student’s degree program. –
The evaluation will be based on the following factors:
– The similarity of the coursework to the coursework offered at HOLY SPIRIT
SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY.
– The grade earned in the coursework
– The relevance of the coursework to the student's degree program
4. Awarding of Transfer Credit
– Transfer credits will be awarded based on the evaluation of the coursework.
– The number of credits awarded will be determined by the Registrar’s office, and will be based on the number of credits earned at the sending institution.
Limitations on Transfer Credit –
– HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY will not accept more than 50% of the total credits required for a degree program from transfer credits.
– HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY will not accept transfer credits for coursework that is more than 10 years old.
Procedure for Requesting Transfer Credit
1. Application for Transfer Credit
– Students who are seeking to transfer credits from another institution must submit an application for transfer credit to the Registrar’s office. –
The application must include the following information:
– The name and address of the sending institution
– The coursework that was completed at the sending institution
– The grades earned in the coursework
1. Official Transcripts –
Students must provide official transcripts from the sending institution to the Registrar’s office. –
The transcripts must be sent directly from the sending institution to HOLY SPIRIT SUPERNATURAL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY.
2. Evaluation of Transfer Credit –
The Registrar’s office will evaluate the transfer credits based on the information provided in the application and the official transcripts.
The evaluation will be completed within 30 days of receipt of the application and transcripts.
Appeals
1. Appeal Procedure
– Students who are not satisfied with the evaluation of their transfer credits may appeal
the decision to the Academic Dean.
– The appeal must be submitted in writing, and must include the following information:
– The reason for the appeal
– The coursework that was evaluated
– The grades earned in the coursework
2. Appeal Decision –
The Academic Dean will review the appeal and make a decision based on the information provided.
– The decision will be communicated to the student in writing, and will include the reason for the decision.
